Overview:

“Career Village 2024” is the 5th edition of the landmark career development and educational event organized by Qatar Career Development Center (QCDC), founded by Qatar Foundation (QF), held this year in partnership with the Ministry of Education and Higher Education (MoEHE) and KidZania Doha.

Taking place from 29 April to 1 May 2024, the three-day event aims to instill a strong career culture among high school students in Qatar. It offers them a hands-on, immersive experience into the world of work, going beyond traditional career exploration. This aligns with the Third National Development Strategy (NDS3) 2024-2030 by bridging the gap between the outcomes of the educational system and the dynamic labor market demands in the State of Qatar, promoting a future-ready and skilled workforce.

Building on the success of the previous editions, this year’s edition of the “Career Village” is set to offer a unique experience at KidZania Doha, an edutainment city designed to simulate real work environments. This engaging setting aligns perfectly with the Village’s goals, allowing students to interact with professionals and experience different career paths firsthand, transcending traditional exploration methods.

Target Audience:

“Career Village” is primarily designed for high school students in Qatar. Parents and career service providers and practitioners are also key participants, considering their great influence on the youth’s academic and career decisions, and their role in contributing to the comprehensive support network for students.

Objectives:

“Career Village” in its fifth edition will bring together 30 representatives from ministries and leading Qatar-based organizations and institutions across various sectors, including Medicine, Science and Technology, Security and Military, Education, Finance, Energy, Manufacturing, Retail, Telecommunication, Transportation, Media, Social Work, Engineering Maintenance Services, Public Safety Services, and Hospitality and Tourism.

Our primary objectives include:

    • Exposing students to practical skills and knowledge essential for Qatar’s evolving labor market. This hands-on experience aims to empower students to make informed academic and career decisions by introducing them to the diverse sectors through which they can serve the national development objectives.
    • Engaging and educating parents and career service providers about the diverse career opportunities and pathways available for youth, promoting informed, evidence-based decision-making and supportive guidance for students in choosing their future paths.
    • Offering high school students in-depth career guidance through interactive counseling sessions with industry experts. This helps them gain a deeper understanding of the role of career development services and the potential career paths ahead of them.
    • Creating a platform for students, educators, and industry professionals to network and collaborate. This fosters meaningful connections and provides students with direct access to career resources, including training, counseling, volunteering, and internship opportunities. This comprehensive approach empowers a seamless transition from education to the workforce.
