QCDC’s “My Career – My Future” Job Shadowing Program Concludes Activations with a University Exhibition
Latest edition attracted 90 high-school students and 13 partner organizations
Doha, Qatar – June 17, 2023: Qatar Career Development Center (QCDC), founded by Qatar Foundation (QF), concluded the fifth edition of the highly acclaimed “My Career – My Future” program, following its success in attracting 90 high-school students in Qatar who gained valuable hands-on experience in 13 organizations.
The program’s closing day was marked by a prestigious closing ceremony, during which participating students were honoured and celebrated in the presence of the QCDC’s leadership and representatives from the program’s partner organizations. Concurrently, a university fair was held to familiarize students with the academic programs, degrees offered by universities in Qatar, application requirements, and admission criteria.
Mr. Abdullah Al-Mansoori, Director of Qatar Career Development Center, emphasized the program’s successful outcomes in developing students’ skills, stating, “My Career – My Future has been instrumental in equipping our students with practical expertise and industry-specific knowledge. Through immersive job shadowing experiences in various sectors, students have gained a profound understanding of the demands and intricacies of different professions.”
“This program has effectively bridged the gap between academic learning and real-world application, empowering students to make informed decisions about their academic and career paths. We are proud to witness the growth and capabilities these young individuals have acquired, and we remain committed to providing them with the necessary resources to excel in their chosen fields.” Al-Mansoori concluded.
Participating students also expressed the extent of their benefit from the ‘My Career- My Future’ program. In this regard, student Sarah Naama Al Naama said, “Participating in ‘My Career – My Future’ has been a transformative, eye-opening, and enriching experience. I had the privilege to shadow professionals in the field of medicine, which has solidified my aspiration to pursue a career in healthcare. This program has assured me of how this sector is uniquely aligned with my personal skills and values, and I am grateful to QCDC for providing me with the opportunity to explore my passion in a real work environment. I am confident that this experience has reinforced my decision to major in medical education.”
The program provided students with a full week of opportunities to experience real work environments in various sectors within the country, explore multiple potential career paths, and crystallize their professional aspirations. Additionally, it empowered them to make informed decisions regarding their academic and professional futures.
The program engaged more than 13 leading organizations in Qatar, including: Hamad Medical Corporation (HMC), Qatar Airways, Amlak Holding Corporation, Public Works Authority ‘Ashghal’, Qatar General Electricity and Water Corporation ‘Khahramaa’, Katara Cultural Village, Qatar University, Vodafone Qatar, Qatar Tourism, Commercial Bank, Nama Social Development Center, and Qatar General Insurance and Reinsurance Company.
