27 January 2025
9:00am – 3:00pm
Overview:
The Ministry of Education and Higher Education, in collaboration with Qatar Career Development Center (QCDC), and under the esteemed patronage and presence of Her Excellency Lolwah bint Rashid Al-Khater, Minister of Education and Higher Education, is organizing a deliberation session titled: “Towards Establishing the National Career Development Ecosystem in Qatar: Contributing to the Realization of Qatar National Vision 2030.”
This session will bring together decision-makers, policymakers, and strategists from the education, training, and labor market sectors, along with representatives from other sectors related to human capital development. The goal is to enhance the role of career guidance and development in achieving Qatar’s sustainable development goals.
This session is part of the Ministry and QCDC’s efforts to invest in national talents and empower young generations to contribute to Qatar’s sustainable development and the realization of Qatar National Vision 2030. Since its inception, the Ministry has collaborated with QCDC to lay the foundations for a national career development ecosystem, engaging all relevant partners and stakeholders.
These efforts, along with research and surveys conducted by QCDC in collaboration with EduCluster Finland, have provided a comprehensive overview of the current career guidance and development landscape in Qatar. They have also led to proposals to capitalize on opportunities and address challenges in establishing the national career development ecosystem.
Recognizing the need for an official mandate and comprehensive integrated coordination, the Ministry and QCDC aim for this deliberation session to revitalize fruitful collaboration with all relevant stakeholders and partners of career guidance and development.
During the session, QCDC, in collaboration with its partners from EduCluster Finland group, will present a future roadmap for the career development ecosystem in Qatar; and the following discussion will focus on ways to transform this roadmap into strategic goals, performance indicators, and an annual action plan. This will be based on the experiences of leading countries in career guidance and development, and aligned with the visions and strategies of UNESCO, the International Labour Organization, and the Organisation for Economic Co-operation and Development.
Objectives of the Dialogue Session:
The deliberation session aims to mobilize key stakeholders from the education, labor market, human resources, national workforce development, and career guidance sectors across Qatar. It will inform them about the current career guidance and development landscape, progress in establishing the national career development ecosystem, investment opportunities, and challenges that need to be addressed.
In collaboration with QCDC, the Ministry seeks to unify efforts and mobilize capabilities towards a joint action plan. This plan will be developed and implemented through a focus group approach to analyze the current situation, leverage opportunities, address challenges, and translate findings into annual action plans. These plans will collectively achieve the strategic goals and performance indicators for establishing the career development ecosystem in Qatar, in line with the Ministry’s 2024-2030 strategy, derived from Qatar’s third national development strategy.
