Seminar on Career Guidance

Qatar Career Development Center, a member of Qatar Foundation for Education, Science and Community Development, is organizing a seminar entitled:

“The role of career guidance in developing a national workforce and contributing to Qatar’s transition towards a knowledge-based economy.”

The seminar sheds light on the importance of career guidance and its role in supporting the human development pillar of the Qatar National Vision 2030 through the development of a national workforce that supports Qatar’s transition from a carbon to a knowledge-based economy.

The seminar outlines planning and career guidance services offered in Qatar and provides suggestions to improve and enhance the nation’s career guidance system in the future. The seminar also touches on international career guidance practices and draws lessons from the advantages and challenges facing such practices.

This seminar provides an excellent opportunity for career guidance experts to expand their network and contributes to educating the Qatari youth. The seminar also aims to encourage the exchange of knowledge among professionals involved in the development and implementation of education, employment, and career planning, guidance and professional development strategies aimed at empowering the Qatari youth.

Sylvia Nassar, a Professor and Doctoral Program Coordinator of Counselor Education at North Carolina State University, will moderate the seminar.

The seminar will be held in English with simultaneous translation into Arabic and attendees will be awarded certificates of participation.
About Sylvia Nassar
Sylvia Nassar is currently a Professor and Doctoral Program Coordinator of Counselor Education at North Carolina State University.

She has more than 30 years of experience in promoting the professionalism of counseling and counselor education and has published nearly 90 books, refereed articles, and other instructional materials on the subject.

She was named the Michael G. Morris Endowed Chair from Eastern Michigan University’s College of Education for 2014-15 and Research Triangle Institute (RTI) – International University Scholar for 2016-17.
