My Career-My Future

8:00 am - 2:00 pm

Qatar Career Development Center (QCDC), a member of Qatar Foundation (QF), will host the fourth edition of its ‘My Career-My Future’ program for high school students in Qatar. This year’s edition, which will be held physically, will focus on providing students with the opportunity to experience work environments in several industries across Qatar. The program aims to raise awareness of various work environments in Qatar, and to incentivize creativity by allowing students to enjoy a real work experience at an organization of their choice. This will help them gain first-hand insights into the jobs at these organizations and to know the extent to which these jobs match their skills and potentials and what to expect from each profession.

The program will introduce youth to career tracks and in-demand jobs in the Qatari market as well as the concepts of self-reliance and responsibility, providing them with hands-on experience to chart their own academic and career paths, which will reflect positively on their efficiency, performance, and future productivity. The program covers numerous disciplines including: Aviation, Medicine, Veterinary Medicine, Media, Filmmaking, Event Management, Tourism, Agricultural Engineering, Banking, Transportation and Shipping, Social Work, Business Management, and Library.

Participating Organizations:

The organizations that will participate in introducing students to different work environments include:

  • Qatar Airways
  • Hamad Medical Corporation
  • Equine Veterinary Medical Center
  • Al Kass Sports Channels
  • Doha Film Institute
  • Qatar National Convention Centre
  • Katara Cultural Village
  • Quranic Botanic Garden

  • Social Development Center – Nama

Program Agenda

The program will be held in Arabic over five days from 26 to 30 June 2022, from 8am to 2pm. On the first day, participating students will gather at Multaqa (Education City Student Center), where a briefing session will take place to introduce the program and its general rules and to meet with the participating organizations.

During the following three days, participants will join the organization of their choice to experience firsthand the work environment. The last day of the program will provide information on various universities across Qatar as well as to review outcomes and celebrate the program’s completion. University representatives will attend and elaborate on the academic programs they offer, share information about majors, application, and admission requirements to various departments, which will help students prepare for their academic studies in an informed way.

Participating students will be granted a license to use QCDC’s online Career Advising System (CAS), the most comprehensive career planning system in Qatar and the region. The system helps students explore their interests using psychometric and personality assessment tools. Based on the results of these assessments, the system then offers students suggestions of the appropriate academic and career options. Students may later book a free virtual career advising session to discuss the results of the assessments and seek advice from a professional career expert.

All students who successfully complete the program will be awarded participation certificates outlining how many work hours they spent at the participating organizations.
