QCDC Concludes the 10th Edition of CATC
171 graduates from across the region have benefited from the course to date
Doha, Qatar, 26 January 2021: Qatar Career Development Center (QCDC), a member of Qatar Foundation (QF), has concluded the 10th edition of its Career Advisor Training Course (CACT), which was delivered in both Arabic and English.
CACT brought together individuals interested in career advising, from different specializations and professional backgrounds, from public and private bodies, as well as educational institutions in Qatar and further afield. The course was held in English from November 22 to 26 and in Arabic from December 6 to 10.
Exclusively offered by QCDC in Qatar and the GCC region, the pioneering program focuses on nine key areas; helping skills, career development and choice theory, assessment and career planning, the role of information in career planning, ethical guidelines, working in groups, using technology, employability skills, and program planning and implementation.
QCDC’s Director, Mr. Abdulla Al-Mansoori, said: “QCDC has been keen to deliver this program since 2015, regardless of the circumstances and difficulties we face. The importance of this program lies in its ability to provide individuals with the knowledge and skills they need for career planning and advising, and to equip them with the tools and activities required to help young people in Qatar embark on the career paths commensurate with their abilities, aspirations, and the nation’s future needs.”
Dr. Amna Al-Shatti, who traveled from Kuwait specifically to participate in the program, stated: “As a specialist in quality of life intelligence, I need accurate answers on career advising. I was having a hard time finding specialized content and guidance in Arabic due to a lack of resources and studies available in the Arabic language.
When I read about this distinguished course, I did not hesitate for a moment to register and participate. I was keen to overcome all the challenges stemming from the circumstances the pandemic is imposing, so as to attend the program, which has answered all my questions about career advising. The information was sufficient, extensive, and based on accurate scientific foundations. Moreover, it was presented in a manner that was easy to understand for all participants of various professional disciplines. I am happy to have attended this excellent course, and I look forward to attending more QCDC programs.”
The 10th edition of CACT was once again delivered by experienced instructors, including Mr. Khalifa Al-Salahi, a certified career counselor with extensive experience in the field of higher education, and working with students in the areas of professional and educational counseling, and Mr. Bilal Solwa, a talent acquisition executive and educator with over 12 years of international experience working with major institutions in Qatar and throughout the Asia-Pacific region.
Mr. Khalifa Al-Salahi, who delivered the Arabic version of the program, said: “The special aspect of this program is that it allows individuals from all disciplines to take part, learn about the most important theories in the field of career advising, and explore the employability skills needed in the labor market. I advise all those interested in the field of career advising and professional development to join this program because of its many benefits that help young people achieve their future professional goals.”
Ahead of CACT, QCDC offered an “Introductory Course on Career Advising”, in both Arabic and English. Attracting more than 50 participants, the course was open to all those interested in career advising and guidance. Attendees were introduced to the basics of career advising and guidance, the career advisor’s role, as well as the basic features of the Career Advisor Training Course.
